Save Money For Laundry

If you need to do your laundry at a laundromat but are low on funds,

here are some tips that may help......

1- use a big machine (as opposed to using a few smaller machines) and fill it to its max with clothes that won't bleed & use cold water reduces the chance of bleeding

2- only fill your dryers half way, this reduces your drying time (saves you money)

I want to thank everyone who has helped collect items for the YMCA children's summer program. They are pleased. They will have hours of crafts thanks to you guys.

I am also collecting hangers. Super Wash recycles metal hangers. They end up in landfills, hurt animals and they never go away.

Also, I am planning a workshop dealing with frugal environmental issues, tips, and ideas. I will post more information as soon as possible.

Untill next time :)

Great Going Green Idea

Want a simple way to go green?

I found this very exciting and interesting way that you can help the environment without to much hassle.

Join the Recycle Caps Campaign with Aveda.

Bring your plastic caps into an Aveda Store and feel great knowing that they will be repurposed into new Aveda packaging and kept from entering our waterways and harming wildlife.

What types of caps?
Caps that are rigid polypropylene plastic, sometimes noted with a 5 in the chasing arrows recycling symbol. This includes caps that twist on with a threaded neck such as caps on shampoo, water, soda, milk and other beverage bottles, flip top caps on tubes and food product bottles (such as ketchup and mayonnaise), laundry detergents and some jar lids such as peanut butter. ("Aveda")

You can also bring them to Super Wash Laundromat 601 Metecom Ave Warren, RI and I will bring them to the location.

I am going to recycle laundry bottle caps lord knows I get a ton of them at the laundromat.

Please pass this on to a friend!

More Laundry Tips

Sorry I have not posted in a while my parents have been staying with me and have been keeping me very busy.

I have more great laundry tips.

Pre-treat collar stains with any cheap shampoo (it's formulated to remove body dirt)& scrub a little

Make your dryer sheets last longer cut them in half (it will still stop static cling)

Make your own Pre-treat solution drain your bottles of liquid detergent into a tall plastic container add water and place in a spray bottle and it's ready to use (scrub a little) it works better than most pricey stain removers

Pre-treat perspiration stains with a mixture of 1 cup salt & 2 cups water plus a couple sprays of your homemade pre-treat solution (scrub a little)I

f you have laundry problems lets us know we can help.

GIVING

Hi guys,
Sorry I have not written lately. It's been busy at the laundromat.

I want to blog tonight about giving to oCheck Spellingthers. Giving to others is a very important human experience. It helps us grow, and makes us feel good. What we give we get. It is the law of reciprocity.

The law of reciprocity can basically be summed up by stating the golden rule: do unto others as you would have others do unto you. However it goes one step further then this. The law states that whatever you do will be returned back to you. In other words, if you want to create success for yourself, help someone else become successful. Info: from http://ezinearticles.com/?Success---The-Law-Of-Reciprocity&id=556242

At the laundromat we are collecting items to help others.

We presently have boxes to collect:
*Drink pouches (like capri sun)for my sons school. (and other organizations)
*Box tops for the Warren School Department
*Toilet paper & paper towel rolls, egg curtains, baby food jars & containers
and other items for the children's crafts at the YMCA.
*Soda can tops for the Children's Hospital.
*Soda cans for the elderly
*Any size donation for the local animal shelter.

These types of giving have a direct impact for little or no cost to you.

If you are interested in helping Stop by Super Wash in Warren, RI and drop
your collection off.

Thanks

Laundry for Your Pets

Chained Dogs

Doing laundry for your pet is important.

First you need a mild detergent or a detergent made for pets. Try Natures Miracle or ECOS pet detergent. You do not want to irritate your pets skin.

If you have pet beds you will need to go to your local laundromat and use a big machine. You get a better rinse and you will not strain or break your home washing machine.

Pretreat spots with the pet detergent, warm water and a small scrub brush.

Use warm water unless labels say otherwise.

Use dryer at Laundromat. The temperature is hot so it will help to kill pet dander and dust mites.

Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets for pet items, unless it is made specifically for pets. These products can irritate your pets skin & lungs.

Remember if you have laundry problems you can always visit your local laundromat for solutions.

You need to wash your pets items every two weeks or more. Especially if you or your pet has allergies.

Stain Removal For Less

How to get stains out for less!

Ink: Use alcohol, put a cloth under ink spot and blot with separate rag dipped in alcohol. Wash as normal.

Blood: Use peroxide, put a rag under* stain and pour peroxide on spot. It will bubble. Give a little scrub if necessary. Wash as normal.

Grease: Use Dawn dish washing liquid use a small scrub brush and a little warm water and gently scrub. Wash as normal.

Stubborn yellow stains, on a white shirt. Place in direct sunlight. The sun naturally bleaches & fades clothing and other items, it will bleach the spot out.

*The best way to get out stains is to use detergent warm water and a little elbow grease!

Hyannis Cape Cod

We are in Cape Cod and it is great here. It was raining and over cast buy we did not care. We are having so much fun. When we arrived we ate breakfast. We swam in the indoor water park. We ate lunch. My daughter and I walked on main street shopping and sight seeing, while the guys went to Pirates Cove mini golf. When we got back we all went back into the pool. Then we went down to the harbor and had dinner in Spanky's Clam Shack. We also played at the hotel arcade. We missed the barn fire but you can't do it all. We are relaxed and tired. I am so glad we took this mini vacation, I wish it was longer. oh well maybe next time :) My next blog will have pics, I promise.

Spring & Seasonal Cleaning

Spring seasonal & cleaning can be a challenge without a washer and dryer.
Tips to make it easier on you and your wallet.

Items that need to be washed.

Bed Rooms: Curtains, comforters & blankets, pillows, shams, ma tress covers, dust ruffle, and throw rugs.
Living Room: Curtains, throw blanket, couch covers, throw pillows, & throw rugs.
Kitchen: Curtains, hand towels, pot holders, aprons, & throw rugs.
Bathroom: Shower curtain, window curtains, towels, & throw rugs.

Work on one room at a time.
Gather items to be washed and put in a basket, then begin to wash furniture, walls, floors. Always start from the top and work your way down.
You don't want to wash the floor in then dust, because the dust will go on your clean floor. If you are changing seasonal items put up new fresh items.

Bring them to your local laundromat, the attendant can help you decide whether to have them done, or assist you with doing it yourself. To save money, find a laundromat with large capacity washers. You will be able to fit a lot of these items in one washer. To save more money hang these items on an outside line to dry. Helps the environment too!

If you are near RI stop by
Super Wash Laundromat, Warren RI 401-247-2791
We will be happy to assist you. :)

Thank You For Getting Dirty

What It Takes

What does it take to run a laundromat? Or any business? You gotta love it!

It takes strength, to deal with anything that may come your way. And believe me you never know what will happen next. (like poop) yeah I said poop, that's why they invented latex gloves.

It takes stamina to get up early everyday, seven days a week and wash/dry & fold for 10 hours. (or a nut job like me)

It takes an open heart to be able to relate to people. You can only imagine what people tell me. (good & bad) The psychologist is in :)

It takes courage to deal with situations that make you want to run and hide.
Like poop yeah I said it again, hey look it's a laundromat!

It takes passion to keep you going, because it gets rough when the coffee wears off.

It takes a great team to get you through the hard days.
Thank God I have a Great team!
I welcome you to come meet my team at Super Wash, Warren RI

I never knew that laundromats were a great place to meet people and make new friends. At my laundromat I hang out with some really great people. They share their stories with me. Stories of love, hope, disappointments, hardship, and joy. I learn so much about people there. Where they came from, where they are now, and where they want to be in the future. I feel very special that they trust me enough to share their personal lives with me.
I just want to say Thank You!

Come join our my laundry family.

10 Ways To Make Your Clothes Last Longer
In this economy we need to find ways of saving money. Making your clothes last is key.

1. Clothes can be worn more than once. (unless you work in a ditch)
This saves your clothes from fading and wear and tear. It save you money cause you are using less detergent, water, gas, and that's great for the environment too.

2. Freshen up clothes; by using a fabric re fresher and let air dry inside or out. fresh air is great for clothes (unless you have allergies) Remember direct sun light has a bleaching affect so don't leave dark clothing out too long.

3. Read labels. Not all fabrics are created equal. Follow all washing instructions.

4. Treat stains right away. Don't let stains sit, they will be harder to get out!

5. Wash dark clothes in cold water. Keeps clothes from fading. Using cold water also saves you money and is great for the environment, because it uses less energy.

6. Do not mix whites and lights with darks. Dark clothes tend to bleed their color.

7. Separate by fabrics when drying your clothes. Do not put light weight permanent press clothes in with heavy cottons. Cottons need high heat, perms need the permanent press cycle. You can burn clothes.

8. Remove Clothes from dryer, fold or hang right away to avoid wrinkles.

9. Hang dry your clothes; they will smell fresh and will save them from shrinking.

10. Seek professional laundry help, if you are not sure how to wash an item.
